A Rental Truck Makes Your Move Easier
Renting A Truck Can Make Your Move Easier
Renting a truck can make your move easier, but only if you do your homework and plan your packing. If the rental truck is poorly packed, your job of unpacking will be a nightmare. Packed properly, unpacking will be a breeze. Here are some tips for packing that truck efficiently.
Organization is important when packing a rental truck for moving. Keep things together according to the room they belong in. In fact, the box can be labeled with the room name, such as kitchen, master bedroom, etc. Use a large marker so the label is easy to see, and write it on several surfaces of the box.
When packing the boxes, try not to put a lot of heavy things in one box. In fact, it will be easiest to load and unload the rental truck if small heavy things are packed in smaller boxes. Hopefully, you won’t wind up with any boxes that are hard to lift. Be sure to use bubble wrap, paper towels, newspaper, and other packing materials for anything breakable. Tough packing tape is good for keeping those boxes closed securely in transport.
When choosing boxes, you can recycle fruit boxes and other containers that you have acquired naturally. However, for packing a rental truck for a move, many of these boxes are not durable. For the very best results, consider using the boxes you can buy from the rentals truck company. Sometimes they will let you use their used boxes without a charge, but new ones will probably cost you. The protection of your belongings can be worth the extra cost, though.
Before you start loading those well labeled boxes into the rental truck, you need to take stock of your large items that need to be moved. Are you bringing a piano, a refrigerator, a couch, or an entertainment center with you? Large furnishings will need to be packed into the rental truck before the smaller boxes are packed.
Long, large items should be loaded against the long walls of the rental truck. Spaces above and below can be filled in with smaller boxes and items. A mattress pad or slip covers can help to protect your mattress and couch from possible tears. Moving companies often supply blankets for wrapping around furniture. If your rental truck company does not have blankets available, use your own.
When moving desks and chests of drawers, they can be lighter and easier to load onto the rental truck if you take the drawers out before moving them. When you get the furniture into the rentals truck, put the drawers back in. They can be taken back out for unpacking when you get to your new home.
Here’s a tip for protecting long, skinny things, such as sporting equipment or bed frames. Try rolling them up inside of your rugs when you are packing them for the rental truck. Also, clothes on hangers can have a coat buttoned around them of clothes to keep them all together.
